Book of the Month(s) Club
“Dancer from the Dance” by Andrew Holleran
I finished this book about a month ago, but I haven’t had a chance to review it until now. I liked this book as much as I’ve liked a book in quite a long time. It tells the story of the still-underground but burgeoning gay circuit scene in New York City and Fire Island during the post-Stonewall, pre-AIDS era. The time and place...

An Ode to LCD Soundsystem →
For anyone who is an LCD Soundsystem fan, and thus lamenting their last-ever show this weekend at Madison Square Garden, this is really cool… The Current put together a radio stream of all the artists who are named dropped as musical inspirations in LCD’s seminal hit “Losing My Edge.” I’ve probably even heard of less than half of these bands, which tells you how cool...

Dan? :-) … I wish I could have been there. I’m not sure exactly how I feel about these sudden moments where I ache to be back home, but Mumford’s songs accompany them perfectly.
On a related note, I...
Some Things Just Go Together (see: The Gays and...
It’s something we all already kind of knew, but this sums it up quite nicely:
“Halloween is overwhelmingly an adult holiday. This year, for example, Americans spent an estimated $800 million on costumes for children, $1 billion on costumes for adults. Where did that adult dress-up party begin? As best we can tell: in San Francisco’s Castro neighborhood. In the 1970s, that...

Support me in the 2010 Santa Speedo Run!
Finally, a legit reason to take my shirt off in public!
Hey friends, visit my donation page to support me in my Santa hat and Speedo-clad run through streets of downtown Boston to benefit local children’s charities this December.
C’mon, don’t we all love children, Santa and half-nudity? (Hopefully not all at once).
