Olbermann to galvanize Current TV
Turns out Keith Olbermann is landing with the little-known cable network Current TV, where he’ll host a nightly news show probably pretty similar to The Countdown and, more importantly, serve as the network’s Chief News Officer.
Side Note: Did you know that Current TV was formed by Al Gore in 2005 out of his dissatisfaction with the cable news networks? I had no idea. And how cool can Al Gore get???
I’m pretty excited about Keith Olbermann running things over at Current TV because it marks a potentially giant win for the tiny network, which has quietly been broadcasting some great programs, including two of my favorites:
Vanguard - Awesome in-depth journalism. Think Edward R. Murrow and Co. for the 21st century.
InfoMania - A weekly mash-up of pop culture hilarity. Think The Soup combined with Tosh.0 and sprinkled with a little dlisted.com … but better.
Hopefully, Current TV and these shows will start to really blow up with Olbermann on board.
