Considering that I grew up in a home with a Home Economics teacher for a mother, it’s pretty unacceptable that my kitchen abilities are as pitiful and uninspired as they are.
So, that said, I plan on becoming a world-class amateur chef starting with the arrival of my new cookbook today!
The book is a collection of recipes from this great New York Times column by Martha Rose Shulman called Recipes for Health… her recipes are delicious and creative, and never involve the Paula Dean approach (a pound of butter or heavy cream), which is, in fact, the culinary equivalent of cheating.
She uses some of my favorite ingredients too, like kale, golden beets and quinoa, to name a few.
For anyone into cooking or eating, I seriously recommend you check out the book or the column.
